What's Hot
April 2010
What a difference a bit of sunshine and warmth makes to turn peoples' minds to Summer. Bringing with it invitations to weddings and summer events.
While 2009 boasted soft colours, 2010 wedding colour trends are about bold colour choices. Purple, in any tone, will be the hottest colour. Other 2010 colours include bold blues, ruby, coral and light grey.
More grooms in 2010 will steer away from the hired tuxedo for their special day and opt instead for a high quality suit and tie that they will own for a lifetime instead. Popular suit colours this year are deep brown, beige, tan and grey.
Spring and summer naturally brings you towards the colours of the ocean, namely turquoise, conjuring feelings of escape, especially when paired with a vibrant blue.
What ever your choice or preference of colour, the tie is the perfect piece to give that splash of summer colour to your wardrobe.
September 2009
With the recession firmly taking hold, quailty is imperitive when it comes to fashion and specifically ties. Quality ensures durability in the currrent age where a throw away society seems a distant cringe worthy past.
People ae looking for clothes and accessories that will last and prove a postive buy as well as showing even in the most toughest times, appearance plays a most a crucial role in business today.
The bespoke service is proving its durability when it comes to weddings and important business occassions. Todays consumers see the importance of what high quality and unique to them products can give them.
Colours for 2010 Spring/Summer are evolving in to soft pastels of pink, greensish yellow, orange, vibrant green and pale blue. While strong reds and sky blues also feature prominently. Designs including floral and paisley still stand strong.
We at Tie Box are led by the new colour trends and designs in our ties you see appearing on our website however we always say that especially when it comes to weddings, colour is a very personal choice and not always following the current fashion. There is no right and wrong when it comes to the colour scheme you choose for a wedding as sometimes the colour Ivory and design classics like the thick, bold 2 colour stripe are the perfect finishing touch.

July 2008
During August many manufactures in Italy including our own, close down for 4 weeks, but we still take bespoke orders during this period here at Tie Box it will just mean your order will begin production on 1st September.
One of the most commonly asked questions we get asked is why do Italian manufactures close for the month of August ? Is it because the weather is too hot to work?
The problem is not because of the weather being too hot because probably July is even hotter and by the time it gets to the second half of August it is even more easy to get rain. In the past all the big companies like Fiat closed in the month of August and this became the month of holidays and the month to spend time with the family. This also enables the textile companies to spend lots of time for maintenance on machinery and to install new equipment. Hope this answer this question for you.
Do you fancy a holiday to Como? You never know, you may bump in to George Clooney! If you do fancy a trip to this picturesque place, the nearest airport is Milan Bergamo Orio Al Serio. You can find cheap tickets via Ryan Air or other similar airlines. If you need a hotels in the centre of Como that is not too expensive you should try the Hotel Plinius. However, beware, August is a busy month in Italy and everything is more expensive at this peak time.
June 2008
With the wedding season truly underway, all shades of green seem to be a real trend this year. The Royal wedding of Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly shows how green is the colour to have, with the bridesmaids all dressed in green and the groom wearing a matching green tie.
Also on trend is the silver tie as worn by Wayne Rooney with his marriage to Colleen. Striped ties are still leading the way on design for weddings, from black and Ivory striped, to purple and white to green and Ivory followed by the floral designs mentioned in my entry in March.
More and more, people and businesses are using our bespoke service due to the lack of availablbility on the high street. Due to the credit crunch, high fuel prices etc our customers are finding the shops do not carry enough in quantity of the tie they want or range of styles so come to us to produce the ties especially for them.
Finally, just remember, that 93% of first impressions are based on how you look and what you wear not on what you say. So, on the important occassions, make sure you get it right.
March 2008.
Spring is upon us and with this comes a new and vibrant range of colours for your tie wardrobe. On trend colours change every season and this spring/summer seems to be full of reds, pinks and blues of all tones. Paisley and floral designs seem to be back with a vengence with a new 2008 twist on the old traditional style.
For weddings the thick striped tie is the look for this year, using Ivory and then either, pink, blue, burgundy or even a stunning black as the contrasting stripe. What ever colour co-ordinates with your wedding, it is entirley up to you. Set your own fashion trend, after all, it is your day! Solid colour ties are always a hit with our customers although adding a specific texture to the tie gives it an individual look. This texture can be either woven, satin, a raised textured or even a mixture of two of these.
One area that needs addressing is the extra long tie and this is something we do intend to try and expand in to. For the particularly tall person, the avergage tie length is not suitable and we hope to be able to bring to our tie selection a few choices of colour and design. Watch this space! In the meantime, our bespoke service can offer what ever length tie you require.
September 2007.
The traditional necktie is fast becoming more and more popular for that special wedding day. Be it a satin, textured or creased look, the tie is back with a vengence.
Designs that are running off the shelves are stiped 2 colour ties from black and Ivory to lilac and Ivory, the choice is endless and is ultimately down to your individual taste and requirements. Ivory is traditonally the most popular colour tie for weddings, other colours are trend lead depending on what is the current colour for the season. This season the colours are purple, green, yellow and orange in various tones. At Tie Box, we can make ties in any colour you require to match your colour scheme. Just ask.
The Groom's outfit has, in the past, always been an afterthought and was just there to satisfy the requirements of the day. How thing have changed! These days, even thought the bride's dress will always be the central most important piece of the day, Grooms are now putting much more thought in to their wedding attire. After all, it is this that completes the overall look of the wedding. With so much choice of colour, texture and design available, the Groom is now able to show his personality through his choice of tie for his wedding day.
One piece of advice, do not leave your choice of ties too late. The amount of people who spend day after frustrating day, stomping around every mens shop in London looking to find that perfect tie, is astounding. If you leave it for a week or so before you wedding it does not leave you much time for us to find or produce the ties you are looking for. Contact us now!
If cravats are your choice of wedding tie, our cravats are handmade in Italy out of 100% Italian silk. For 2008, we will have in stock a great colour range for you to choose from. However bear in mind we can produce any colour silk cravat you need. Great for that formal occasion!
Looking at the wider spectrum of ties available on the market today, there is the polyester tie. Being honest, we are not a great fan of polyester ties as quality ties should be made from silk. We do not hold polyester ties in stock, however, if your business requires polyester we can produce them with a minimum quanitiy of 100.
If you have an important interview coming up, do not forget you will never get a second chance for a first impression. Like a piece of art, if the shirt is the canvas, the suit the frame, then the tie is the centre piece. Choose a silk tie that reflects your personality and show your interviewer you mean business. Little details like this can set you apart from your competitors.
A detail like saddle stitching for example is a sign of exclusivity. Some of our luxury ties come with saddle stitiching which is a hand sewn stitch applied to keep the two halves together, a luxury detail that finishes the tie like no other detail can. Saddle stitching is a sign of old workmanship and is visible on the rear of the neck tie utilising a multi spun thread in a co-ordinated colour.
Fashion in general for men is evolving at a rapid pace and quality ties are making a huge return in to the work and social arena. If our wide selection of ties displayed in our online catalogue do not appeal or perhaps you need extra long ties or skinny ties, please ask us, as our bespoke service is there for this purpose.
One last area of ties we have not covered is the novelty ties/bow tie. We are not even going to go there! All we would say is that they may have a time and a place in society but we do not know when that is!
"A well tied tie is the first serious step in life."
Oscar Wilde.
"One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art."
Oscar Wilde.
"There is no time, Sir, at which ties do not matter."
Jeeves and the Impending Doom. P G Woodhouse.
Why mention these famous old quotes? We totally agree with them!
