1The dimple - A good knot should always have a dimple. The dimple in the little indentation right below the knot of the tie. A good dimple is made before you tighten the knot. You start by putting your index finger in the fabric directly under the knot while lightly squeezing the side of the fabric as you tighten the knot pulling down on the wide end of the tie. The dimple should be centred in the middle of your knot.

Never wear a brown belt with black shoes and vice versa.

Never leave a tie knotted at the end of the day. It will ruin your tie.

As a general rule, you can wear a striped shirt with a striped tie as long as the stripes are not identical size.
